WASHINGTON, DC – The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) today imposed a $10 million civil money penalty against Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort (Trump Taj Mahal), for willful and repeated violations of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). In addition to the civil money penalty, the casino is required to conduct periodic external audits to examine its anti-money laundering (AML) BSA compliance program and provide those audit reports to FinCEN and the casino’s Board of Directors.

Trump Taj Mahal, a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, admitted to several willful BSA violations, including violations of AML program requirements, reporting obligations, and recordkeeping requirements. Trump Taj Mahal has a long history of prior, repeated BSA violations cited by examiners dating back to 2003. Additionally, in 1998, FinCEN assessed a $477,700 civil money penalty against Trump Taj Mahal for currency transaction reporting violations.
'Trump Taj Mahal received many warnings about its deficiencies,' said FinCEN Director Jennifer Shasky Calvery. 'Like all casinos in this country, Trump Taj Mahal has a duty to help protect our financial system from being exploited by criminals, terrorists, and other bad actors. Far from meeting these expectations, poor compliance practices, over many years, left the casino and our financial system unacceptably exposed.'
Trump Taj Mahal admitted that it failed to implement and maintain an effective AML program; failed to report suspicious transactions; failed to properly file required currency transaction reports; and failed to keep appropriate records as required by the BSA. Notably, Trump Taj Mahal had ample notice of these deficiencies as many of the violations from 2012 and 2010 were discovered in previous examinations.
Director Shasky Calvery expressed her appreciation to the Internal Revenue Service, Small Business/Self-Employed Division, which performed the examinations of Trump Taj Mahal, for their contributions to the investigation and for their strong partnership with FinCEN. She also thanked the Commercial Litigation Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice for their assistance with this enforcement action.
Trump Taj Mahal petitioned for bankruptcy in September 2014. That bankruptcy remains pending. The Bankruptcy Court approved of Trump Taj Mahal’s settlement on March 4, 2015.
FinCEN seeks to protect the U.S. financial system from being exploited by illicit actors. Its efforts are focused on compromised financial institutions; third-party money launderers; transnational organized crime; terrorist and other security threats; significant fraud; and threats to cyber security. FinCEN has a broad array of enforcement authorities to target both domestic and foreign actors affecting the U.S. financial system.
FinCEN's mission is to safeguard the financial system from illicit use and combat money laundering and promote national security through the collection, analysis, and dissemination of financial intelligence and strategic use of financial authorities.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been gradually entering every sphere of our society for more than a decade. Although not as dangerous as in the movies, this piece of technology has the ability to empower people and automate processes by using machine learning and other cutting-edge scientific discoveries.
The casino industry is already using AI to improve customer experience, but some people object to this technology—fearing it may interfere with businesses related to casinos and affect games so as to change the outcome in favor of casinos.
On the other hand, some bold claims have been made by casinos too. They state that players may use AI in the future to sway the probability in their favor.
The primary focus is on online casino slots because they seem too exposed and easy to meddle with. However, casino games don’t use artificial intelligence that would affect the gameplay and punch players below the belt, and neither can players use AI to make casino games work in their favor.
What Is AI Actually?
Artificial Intelligence is often defined as the simulation of human intelligence demonstrated by computers. Although this is a more or less correct definition, scientists are still a far cry from achieving the end result, as they still struggle to capture the essence of human consciosuness that would make AI equal to humans.
On the other hand, AI is more powerful than humans because it has the ability to process data much faster and in much bigger chunks. Google, Apple, and many other companies already use state-of-the-art AI to achieve a better user experience. If you ever used personal assistants such as Siri, or used speech recognition software, you probably witnessed the latest achievements of AI.
What Games Are Affected by AI?
AI has been a part of the gaming industry for a long time, in one way or another. One of the most notable examples can be seen in opponents in firs-person shooter (FPS) games who “think for themselves” and learn about players’ movements in order to develop a strategy and defeat them.
As a matter of fact, this technology has become so intertwined with contemporary video games that it is pretty impossible to think of a game that doesn’t use some kind of AI to support non-player characters (NPCs) and objects. Furthermore, some games were dummies for testing the latest breakthroughs in AI and proved useful for improving some aspects of the underlying technology.
Yet, casino games still seem to be marginalized in comparison with ordinary video games. AI is used mainly by casino providers to improve user experience on online casino platforms. Apart from that, one cannot really find instances of AI in these type of games.
It is safe to say that artificial intelligence has a positive effect on the game experience, but it still cannot affect the actual outcome of games based on luck. Reputable casinos such as Mega Casino UK will never let any external factor affect the outcome or make games unfair in any way.

Can AI Affect Slots Outcome?
According to this article, RTP is one of the most important factors that you should take into account when choosing an online slot. This abbreviation stands for Return to Player, which is a figure representing the money that is being returned to players via rewards. For example, if the RTP is 95 percent, the casino will take $5 for every $100 deposited in the game, while lucky players will get $95 back into their pockets.
AI cannot gain insight into how RTP is calculated—that is kept secret by software development companies. At the moment, it is virtually impossible for AI to affect RTP. However, if it accessed RTP algorithms, it would be able to affect them. Luckily for us, all slots have strong security measures that make it impossible for any type of harmful technology to penetrate them.
Conclusion
There is a relationship between AI and online slots, but it is not what you think it is or what many people fear. Artificial intelligence is mainly used to improve overall gaming experience and it does not affect RTP or any other factor that could affect the gameplay or potential outcome.

These two are bound to get closer at a certain point in the future and improve each other. AI will be able to gain a deeper insight into casino games and improve them, making the world of online casino games much more inviting and entertaining. As long as their relationship does not affect the fairness of games, that sounds like a good thing.
